About this role..

As an Employee Relations Manager you will be reporting to the Head of Human Resources and you will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of HR Advisory services to the business, circa 18,000 colleagues within the Poundland Group, Dealz and Pep & Co.  You will lead a small team of one HR Advisory Team Lead and six HR Advisors and act as the escalation point and expert on any high-level issues

Key Responsibilities..

As an Employee Relations Manager your duties will consist of but not limited to:

  • Support the development of the wider HR strategy and positively promote the HR brand through the successful provision of a first-class HR service to all key stakeholders within the Group including Dealz (ROI) and Pep&Co (Clothing division)
  • Shape the Organisational policy strategy ensuring that all HR policies are up to date, appropriate for the business in tone and language used and are legally complaint both now and in the future.
  • Advise the business on future changes to employment legislation matters ensuring that the Organisation is briefed fully, ahead of time and can ensure the successful integration of said changes including budgetary requirements.
  • Provide ER support to the HRBP’s and Central functions with proactive and appropriate advice on a variety of matters including complex disciplinary and performance related matters, TU negotiations, OD changes and general ER matters.
  • Work closely with the Reward team to ensure successful implementation of changes, reviewing the impact of proposals to ensure that Colleagues are engaged with proactively and we implement professionally new changes into the business.
  • Develop relevant ER documentation, ensuring all contractual/legal documents and templates are kept up to date in line with current legislation.
  • Provide ER Metrics measuring performance of the agreed SLA’s

About you..

As an Employee Relations Manager you will be an ER expert and hold the following:

  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders utilising a variety of approaches to successfully implement new ideas and changes to legislation
  • Experience of dealing and negotiating with trade unions, developing strong partnerships and relationships for mutual benefit.
  • Previous experience of managing and leading an ER/HR Advisory function spanning multiple areas of a business
  • Level 7 CIPD or Level 5 CIPD working towards Level 7
  • Experience of dealing with high volume in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of delivering complex and large-scale projects

  • Ability to challenge proactively and provide recommendations and solutions on a range of matters
