About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Legal and working alongside other legal professionals, the Senior Solicitor role is a very interesting, broad in-house legal role.

With either in-house or practice experience you will be required to provide timely and commercial legal advice on a wide range of issues. These include amongst others, resourcing, data protection, commercial disputes, advertising and intellectual property.

Working within the Head Office you will interact across the Senior Management community. Poundland has built a network of almost 900 stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland, offering top brands and great quality own brand products, that provide customers with amazing value every day

 

 

What you’ll be doing on a Typical Day

 

You’ll be a senior member of the Legal Services Team ensuring delivery of key products. You’ll be responsible for defending cases and be willing to stand up in different Courts across the UK representing the brand. Here’s a snapshot of the Role responsibilities:

Providing timely and commercial legal advice

  • Assisting with negotiation and drafting of a wide range of interesting , complex and at times, high value commercial contracts.
  • Providing timely and commercial legal advice
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues relating to outsourcing, data protection (DP), commercial disputes, advertising and some intellectual property (IP).
  • External legal spend responsiblity and management of relationships internally and externally
  • Working across the group with traders, distribution, IT to ensure we drive best practice in compliance and contractual matters

About You

You’ll be a passionate and enthusiastic legal professional with substantial PQE.You’ll have experience gained in either a private practice background or from another in-house role. To be considered you’ll need to have the following on your CV:

  • Between 2-6 years PQE
  • In-house experience in a similar industry
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills with excellent knowledge of other relevant areas of law including outsourcing, contract, commercial, intellectual property, data protection and bribery and corruption
  • Some company secretary experience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to deal with risk management, governance and compliance
  • Outstanding people and relationship building skills
