Job role

The Central Operations Team manage the integrity of stock through the Pep & Co supply chain.


  • You will be working with internal and external teams to maintain accurate and up to date stock information for all Pep & Co store and warehouse locations.


  • Monitoring both internal and 3rd party stock management systems to check accuracy levels.


  • Investigating into any problems found and rectifying issues in a timely manner.  You will summarize your findings through clear reporting.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Annual stock takes
    • Format and upload data to stock counting software portal
    • Download count results from 3rd party data, format and upload into Pep & Co systems
    • Summarise results
  • Inter branch transfers – automated and manual
    • Co-ordinate and record use of HHT guns to scan stock in and out of branches and make sure that results look sensible and that correct procedure is followed
    • For Poundland stores, follow correct procedure to transfer Poundland data into Pep & Co system
  • PI (perpetual inventory) counting
    • Create file containing SKUs to be counted and send to store HHTs
    • Collate resultant count information
    • Post data into Pep & Co system and review for irregularities
  • Reporting on all stock events
    • Summarising results and actions arising from all stock takes, PI counts and other stock activity to present to senior management
    • Liaising with finance team to allow them to value the business stock correctly at the end of financial periods
    • Keeping records of all stock activity
    • Liaising with the Distribution centre to understand all changes in stock quantity and value
    • Monitoring and reporting of shrinkage
  • Process development
    • To continue to work closely with the IT, DC and operations teams to continuously improve and develop our stock counting processes

Skills and Experience

  • Retail finance or merchandising background preferred – previous experience as a system stock controller preferable
  • Previous experience of working with fashion apparel is highly beneficial
  • Good communication skills and the ability to bring clarity to abstract concepts
  • Quick learner of IT systems
  • Strong Excel skills – will need to analyse large volumes of stock data using various tools: Business Objects, MS Excel
